Ciaran Mclaughlin

I head up the Public Sector Assurance, external audit group at BDO. I specialise in advising NHS, local government, and central government entities. I am a CIPFA qualified Key Audit Partner, with 30 years of experience providing external audit, internal audit, and advisory services to a broad range of public sector entities. My external audit experience includes Integrated Care Boards, NHS Trusts and Foundation Trusts, local authorities and local government pension funds, government departments, NDPBs, and agencies.

In addition, I have extensive experience in providing accounting advice and financial assurance projects to a range of public sector bodies and in Housing Benefits Assurance delivery.

I represent BDO on the National Audit Office’s Local Auditors Group, contributing to the future of local audit in England. I have also sat as a member of CIPFA’s ethics panel in a personal capacity.
