Iain Nettleton

I lead the International Projects Group within BDO's International Institutions and Donor Assurance (IIDA) team.

I design and deliver large and complex projects for clients in emerging markets and transitional economies, including for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, World Bank, and the European Union.

My project portfolio focuses on delivering assignments related to inclusive economic growth/investment, public sector reform and financial oversight.  These areas of work align with my personal interest and technical background, and I work to blend the highest standards of financial acumen with the latest academic insight to see sustainable impact achieved in demanding environments.

My utmost belief is that professional services firms are uniquely positioned to address some of the most difficult changes facing our world today, a belief that’s supported by over 20 years of successfully implementing highly impactful and complex projects.

I am a chartered accountant with CIPFA and also hold an MSc in International Development, and an MBA. I have extensive experience working in Africa, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
