BDO advises Helix International Group Limited

BDO supports Helix International Group Limited to secure significant private equity investment

BDO has advised the shareholders of leading risk, compliance and safety specialist, Helix International Group Limited (“Helix International Group”), on securing a significant investment from Queen's Park Equity (QPE) to support and continue its impressive growth trajectory.

Founded in 2011 by Rosalind Benjamin, Helix International Group is a multi-faceted group providing a range of risk, safety and compliance services for the built environment sector, supported by its market leading risk management software offering. The services it delivers help its blue-chip clients stay ahead of compliance requirements in a constantly evolving regulatory environment. These services are provided through its market-leading brands: Ark Workplace Risk, Firetecnics, Ark Sustainability and Quooda.

Led by Duncan Lamb and Will Daniels at BDO, the team provided end-to-end support, including M&A corporate finance sell side advice, commercial due diligence, modelling, financial and tax due diligence, debt advisory and private client tax support.

Helix International Group founder, Rosalind Benjamin is continuing as an investor and a board advisor to the business. Rosalind commented on the transaction: “We were looking for an investment partner who really bought into our mission and the fact that our success is built on our clients’ success. BDO took the time to truly understand our business and what mattered most to us and successfully identified the right investment partner to help us achieve our goals.

“QPE stood out because they showed a deep understanding of our culture and the market, have the experience of scaling businesses like ours and the expertise to accelerate our plans. We’ve built an exceptional leadership team who have been the driving force behind our success in recent years. With renewed investment and ambition, I’m looking forward to supporting Mirela and the team to continue this success.”

Mirela Duras will lead the business in her new role as Group MD with Rosalind Benjamin remaining in an advisory role.

Mirela Duras, Group MD, at Helix International Group, added: “We have an ambitious goal: to build the UK’s foremost risk, compliance and safety solutions, and software business and today’s investment is the next step towards achieving this vision. While it is business as usual for our team and clients, it’s an exciting milestone for us all and I’d like to thank everyone who has played a role in our success.”

Duncan Lamb, partner at BDO, said: “This is a brilliant business in a growing and resilient sector. We are thrilled to have advised the shareholders of Helix International Group Limited on their transaction with QPE. This partnership brings together Helix International Group’s market-leading risk and safety expertise with QPE’s strategic backing and proven investment capability.”
